Sourdough Pie Crust Tips for Success
- The sourdough piecrust recipe is pretty foolproof, but there are some tips and tricks that you can do to help you be a little bit more successful when making it this recipe.
- My go-to tips for making sourdough piecrust:
- Make sure your water is ice cold when you add this ingredient to your flower dough mixture. Using ice-cold water helps make a more flakier pie crust.
- Do not overwork your dough or under your dough. In the beginning, it might seem impossible to make this, though as a crumbles but the more you work it the more the butter helps to create the dough shape. Just don’t overwork to the point you do not feel any of the butter chucks.
- Always, but always chill your sourdough pie crust before using it it will create better structure and your result will be a nice buttery and delicious pie crust
- When rolling out your dough, make sure you flip the dough from front to back making sure it is always moving preventing it from sticking on your surface.
- Having very flouted working surfaces to help your dough, not stick and continue to be shaped when shaping out your pie go to your desired shape.
- Instead of using a cheese grater to cut up cold butter, you have us a food processor.
If you follow any of these tips you be successful in making this homemade pie crust with sourdough flavor to make any pot pies, apple pie, or sweet pies of your choice.
