I know I’m not the only parent who has to come up with an easter basket ideas last minute.
Hey life gets busy right! ..and the dollar store never fails to amaze me.
Easter is a fun holiday that I enjoy with my children that are toddler-aged and pre-teens. So, in order to be fair, I have to get creative with my easter basket ideas so every child will enjoy them.
The Dollar store is a great place to get not only Easter stuffers but crafts and all things décor too, so it has a no-brainer to be creative at the dollar store.
Let’s face it, you can get a lot of these items in other stores, but most of the time also they are also at the Dollar but for way cheaper. Saving money and being frugal at times is beneficial, I mean how else did I pay $60,000 in 13 months…by being frugal.
Jump Ahead
How can you say no to something that is only a dollar! I can’t and I love how I can create something beautiful and still save money.
This year I wanted my kid’s Easter baskets to be garden-themed and interactive. I’m sure some Easters basket items you have given in the past end up not being used or have ended up in the trash.
So as a gardener myself, I love showing my kids how magical gardening can be. Here are some great easter basket ideas…

DIY EASTER BASKET
You can see from my DIY Easter basket I added age-appropriate items for each child. I actually got these baskets at my dollar store!
All my girls got the same type of garden items but for my toddler, I placed a push toy, fun magnifying glass, and a motivational mini book for her age. As for my pre-teens, I placed fun color pens and a note pad (they can doddle in note pads all day).
Fun craft wood birdhouses were also left with a paint set for each child. Overall, having a fun Easter day gardening and painting sounds like a great Easter day outdoors!
As for my burlap bow, I had some of this burlap laying around so I just made a bow and tied it to each basket for decoration.
Sometimes the most thoughtful and practical gifts are simple ones. Easter is a great way to show little ones how to grow something beautiful and learn how to appreciate the simple things in life.
Every Dollar store is different, so depending on your area you might not have some of these items listed. Nevertheless, I have some great alternatives from Amazon that are still budget-friendly.
